Local Information

Waterford is a historic city, founded on the banks of the river Suir by the Vikings in the 10th century. Today, it is one of Ireland’s most vibrant cities, undergoing rapid development on account of its designation as Gateway city for the South East region.

As part of that development, Waterford is benefiting from a number of significant additions to its infrastructure.  The most notable are as follows . .

  • New N25 city bypass with new landmark road bridge; due for completion in October 2009
  • New 250,000 sq ft shopping centre on Ferrybank’s Ross Road opening in October 2009
  • New N25 city bypass with new landmark road bridge.
  • New M9 motorway replacing existing road to Dublin.
  • Development of new Government Quarter between Catherine Street and Lombard Square.
  • New Docklands style development of the North Quays and Frank Cassin Wharf.
  • Improved rail and air transport opportunities.
  • Rapid expansion of retail opportunities both in the city and in key suburb locations.
  • The upgrade of Waterford Institute of Technology to University status.

We at Ennis Gough property are delighted to be trading in Waterford at this exciting time in the city’s development. Our offices are ideally located overlooking the North Quays, and close to Ferrybank’s new multi million euro shopping centre.
